The UHS Corporate Office is hiring a Manager - HIM to support UHS Behavioral Health Hospitals and HIM Departments through leadership and direction relating to Coding and HIM processes.  This position will also assist in providing UHS with cost effective and innovative HIM services that meet all regulatory and compliance requirements as well as strategic planning and development of HIM activities at UHS.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Monitors and analyzes the Health Information Management operations through review of processes, Key indicators and reports. Identifies and resolves issues impacting operational results
  • Evaluates new initiatives and Best Practices to provided added value to HIM operations
  • Interacts with various departments that are impacted by the operations of HIM department including Patient Access, Patient Accounting, Case Management, I/S, Finance and hospital patient care areas
  • Interacts with vendors utilized in the HIM processes to promote efficiencies and operational value
  • Develop, implement and monitor compliance with UHS policies and procedures and Medicare coding rules and regulations
  • Provide training and education relating to ICD-10-CM coding, compliance and 3M encoder. Ensures that the facility CFOs and Coding staff are knowledgeable about Medicare’s payment methodology
  • Coordinates the Medicare Coding Audit performed by outside consultants and provides training and feedback based on the results to senior management and field staff
  • Assists with the development and implementation of electronic medical record and Best Practices for efficient operating processes using new technology

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 5 - 8 years' experience of Health Information Management Systems and Operations.

  • Experience with various HIM tools including encoders, compliance software, deficiency tracking software, transcription
  • Must have progressive management experience
  • Must have extensive knowledge in both Medicare and other governmental regulations
  • Must have a proven record of identifying process improvement opportunities
  • Demonstrated proficiency with utilizing ICD-10-CM coding. RHIA, RHIT or CCS with minimum of 3 years coding experience required
  • Travel Requirements – up to 70%
